EDS Ottawa’s Canteen Services Team is on-call 24/7 and prepared to respond at a moment’s notice.

The EDS Canteen Services Team is an auxiliary rehabilitation service provider to Ottawa Fire Services and Ottawa Police Service. It is fully-equipped to:

- provide up to 150 meals immediately and with a capacity to serve 500+ meals daily

- ensure that emergency personnel have the nutritional and hydration requirements needed to perform their demanding duties, and

- care for the people whose homes are affected by fire or disaster.

The Canteen Services team is also able prepared to respond to the needs of a reception centre. It can perform mass feeding operations in the event of a larger emergency causing evacuation.

The EDS Ottawa Canteen Services Team annually serves an average of about 1,500 hot meals. It also provides many more snacks and hot and cold beverages, to emergency personnel and clients affected by fire or disaster.

EDS Canteen Services is supported by a fully-dedicated program vehicle. It is one of six such vehicles originally donated by the Harold E. Ballard Foundation.

In Canada alone, the Salvation Army’s EDS has over 30 similar trucks. For over 10 years, EDS Ottawa’s Canteen Services team has been supported by the Retired Ottawa Fire Fighters Association (ROFFA).
