Victim Services

Organized, Experienced, Equipped and Prepared – EDS Ottawa’s Victim Services team is on-call 24/7 and is prepared to respond at a moment’s notice.

Unique to Ottawa, EDS Victim Services provides on scene relief, support and comfort to victims displaced from their homes due to fire, flood, emergencies or disasters.

In 2016, the EDS Ottawa Victim Services Team was deployed 98 times, and provided about $50,000 of direct assistance to 544 clients.  In Ottawa, the program is funded entirely by the Salvation Army’s Annual Christmas Kettle Campaign.

Supported by a fully-dedicated program vehicle that acts as a mobile comfort centre, Victim Services volunteers will meet with victims and survivors of disasters and emergencies to ensure they have access to food & water, clothing, medication, personal effects, and shelter.

Our Victim Services vehicle is stocked with blankets, bottled water, footwear, teddy bears, hygiene products, and has a Keurig machine, TV & DVD player for a hot drink or welcomed distraction from the disaster at hand.

EDS Ottawa Victim Services delivers these resources and supports immediately on scene, or will assist or facilitate delivery with a partner organization.
